First launched in Japan and now introduced to Malaysia, DroneEye is a cloud-based infrared (IR) image analysis tool that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to inspect solar power plants via drones. With Malaysia’s increasing adoption of renewable energy and rapid solar farm development, DroneEye offers a practical solution to meet local industry needs.
DroneEye uses deep learning to identify defective solar modules with 93.5% accuracy (based on 2018 development data). It's ideal for Malaysia’s growing solar industry seeking smarter maintenance solutions.

Inspection data is stored securely in the cloud, allowing operators to access reports anytime, anywhere — perfect for teams managing sites across different states.
By combining drones, AI, and cloud technology, DroneEye helps reduce inspection time and manual labor, supporting Malaysia’s push toward automation in solar O&M.
Backed by Japanese technology and now adapted for Malaysia’s climate and operational needs, DroneEye delivers accurate, reliable thermal analysis to improve performance and reduce downtime.
DroneEye operates by first capturing thermal images of a solar power plant using drones equipped with infrared (IR) cameras. These images are then automatically uploaded to a secure cloud server, where DroneEye’s AI engine analyzes them using deep learning algorithms. The system identifies and classifies defects such as hotspots, cell damage, or string failures with high accuracy. Once the analysis is complete, a detailed inspection report is generated, highlighting defective modules along with their exact locations and thermal image references. All data is stored in the cloud, allowing solar O&M teams and asset managers in Malaysia to access inspection results anytime, anywhere, for faster and more informed maintenance decisions.
DroneEye uses deep learning to analyze infrared images, accurately identifying and categorizing defects in solar power installations. The system's accuracy has significantly improved from 12.5% to 93.5%, demonstrating the effectiveness of deep learning in enhancing infrared inspection reliability.
Launched in Malaysia in 2023, the program is a strategic initiative designed to revolutionize the solar O&M landscape in Malaysia by integrating cutting-edge drone and AI technology.
For solar O&M partners, this program aims to enhanced operational efficiency, reduced costs, and improved solar energy production.
For DaaS companies, it provides a unique opportunity to grow the business by entering a high-demand sector with specialized services.
DroneEye Partner Program supports companies in solar O&M and drone aerial photography, especially those using drones for infrared inspections of solar panels. The program provides access to DroneEye’s cloud services, specialized software, and training.
Becoming a DroneEye Partner allows your company to offer fast, cost-effective, and highly accurate inspection services through a streamlined process.
The three-day training course covers the essentials for deploying DroneEye service safely and effectively. It includes lessons on inspecting solar modules with drones, using cloud services, designing navigation routes, ensuring safety, and developing practical skills for successful implementation.
The DroneEye management site is a cloud-based platform that centralizes inspection data. It features an advanced AI server for automatic analysis of infrared imagery and includes tools for submitting detailed reports and managing data efficiently.
Our software helps design effective automatic drone flight paths for inspecting solar modules by integrating the solar power plant’s layout with map information. This ensures optimized navigation routes for comprehensive and accurate inspections.
In collaboration with the Selangor Human Resource Development Centre (SHRDC) and the Malaysian Photovoltaic Industry Association (MPIA), the [Drone-based IR Solar PV Inspection training program, utilizing DroneEye]*, was officially launched in 2024.
Facilitated by Drone Academy Asia, this program is designed to equip participants with the skills to set up and execute infrared solar inspections using drones. Participants will learn to detect panel defects and abnormalities, perform detailed analysis, and produce comprehensive reports, enhancing the operation and maintenance procedures of solar power plants.
